Why is protein important?
Protein is the building blocks for life. It is an important component for every cell in your body. Protein keeps your body working as it should. It is the key to a fitter, stronger, leaner you.
Protein keeps you fuller for longer and helps to balance blood sugar levels. Because it leaves you feeling satiated, you are less likely to over eat.
How much protein do I need?
Eating enough protein for YOU not only helps you burn fat, but also keeps you fuller for longer. So how much should you have? We need to get the right amount, at the right time, and in the right way. For protein is 1 gram of protein per kilogram (or per 2.2 pounds) of body weight.
If you are using more energy however your protein requirement will change a little:
Moderate exercise, intensity that leaves you slightly out of breath for 30 minutes a day, 4-5 days per week will take your protein allowance to 1.5g per kilo of body weight.
Heavy exercise, high intensity running, heavy weights for 30 minutes per day 5-7 days per week will increase your protein allowance to 2g per kilo of body weight.

Protein powder is a great way to get a big part of your daily needs, taking it regularly throughout the day ensures you always feel full
Eggs – a medium egg has around 6 grams of protein
Nuts and seeds
Meat, poultry and fish
Tofu, beans and lentils
Yoghurt, milk and cheese
